Now and Never Again

Now And Never Again explores the relationship between childhood memories and currently existing environments. Through exploring spaced at present time, and reflecting back on childhood events, I have worked to combine the two in a single image. My mother was ever the avid family photographer. After searching through photo albums, I selected photos with significant places and people, and returned to those places to photograph them in their current state. In the darkroom, I completed double exposures while first exposing photographic paper to the current day photograph of these spaces, and then exposing the paper a second time utilizing my mother's original negative, selectively adding myself and loved ones in to today's environment. This is a reflection upon how vastly time changes our lives, and how unobtainable the past is once it is gone.
